On June 7 in Hanoi, the Central Economic Committee collaborated with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Vietnam Economic and Development Research Initiative Network (V-Idea, USA) to organize the Knowledge Expert Forum. overseas Vietnamese with Vietnam's economic development and integration in the period of 2016 - 2020. On behalf of the Party and State Leader, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Doan, Member of the Party Central Committee, Vice President of the Communist Republic The Socialist Republic of Vietnam attended and gave a welcome speech.
The forum took place under the chairing of Prof. Dr. Vuong Dinh Hue, Member of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Economic Commission and Mr. Vu Hong Nam, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Chairman of the State Committee for Vietnamese Nam was abroad and Mr. Tran Ngoc Anh, Director of V-Idea. Especially, the attendance of more than 100 delegates, of which more than 30 delegates are economic, finance, law and public administration experts working at universities in the US, France, Australia, Japan ... and international organizations.
With the theme "Enhancing Vietnam's competitiveness in the global economy", the Forum focused on exchanging and discussing three main issues:
Firstly, the issue of renewing the growth model and restructuring the economy. Identify growth model of Vietnam, compare growth model in Vietnam with other East Asian countries; restructuring of the financial-banking system is in relationship with risk management in the global financial system; equitization of state-owned enterprises and restructuring of state-owned enterprises; restructure agriculture in the direction of improving efficiency and sustainable development, improving the investment environment, raising the competitiveness of Vietnamese enterprises.
Second, on industrialization and modernization. Vietnam's industrial development policy, its experience and its recommendations for Vietnam.
Thirdly, the issue of developing human resources and science and technology to enhance Vietnam's competitiveness in international economic integration. The issue of fundamental and comprehensive renovation of education in Vietnam; experience in education reform, human resource training for science and technology development in countries and policy recommendations for Vietnam; international support issues with the health system, etc.
With the frank and open atmosphere, the Forum has recorded many valuable exchanges of Vietnamese intellectual experts abroad, focusing on 4 main groups of issues: Restructuring the financial system , Bank; Developing industry and agriculture; Restructuring state-owned enterprises and Developing human resources to improve competitiveness.
Concluding the meeting, Prof. Dr. Vuong Dinh Hue summarized the important contents in 4 discussion sessions including: Assessing achievements through 30 years of innovation; Challenges and shortcomings of Vietnam's economy, the region and the world with a focus on key areas such as banking and financial system, industry, agriculture, human resource training to improve high competitiveness of the country ... From the opinions of scholars and experts at the Forum, the Central Economic Board will work with agencies to refine feasible proposals to propose, advise the Politburo and the Secretariat in developing and perfecting the Party's guidelines, the State's policies and laws.
The Head of the Central Economic Committee emphasized: The success of this Forum has shown that overseas Vietnamese are an inseparable part and an important resource of the Vietnamese ethnic community. Here, as the wishes of Vietnamese knowledge experts abroad through this Forum, we need to research and organize an annual or periodical economic forum to mobilize knowledge and experience from the team. Vietnamese intellectuals living and working abroad, as well as international experts with research on Vietnam. Thereby, we will be able to receive more valuable contributions on strategic issues for Vietnam's economic development and integration.
Also within the framework of the Forum's activities, in the evening of the same day, at the headquarters of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, Vietnamese overseas intellectuals attending the Forum were honored to be comrade Nguyen Thien Nhan, Politburo member, President of Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and solemn reception and reception.
